Using Automation

Automation allows you to control parameter changes, such as Volume, Pan, or FX controls, over time. You can record or manually draw automation points for precise changes. Automation helps create dynamic, polished mixes by adding movement to your project.

Web Mobile
  1. In the Studio, toggle the Automation lane by pressing A on your keyboard or by clicking the Automation button located above your track headers
  2. Click the dropdown list on the track header and select a parameter you want to automate (e.g., Volume, Pan). If you want to automate an FX, add the effects to your track first and select the effects parameter from the list
  3. Add breakpoints by clicking on the envelope line. Move the breakpoints around to shape the automation. You can copy and paste breakpoints by highlighting them, pressing Ctrl/Cmd + C or V on your keyboard, or by right-clicking on the highlighted breakpoints and selecting Copy/Paste.
  4. To delete or reset automation, highlight the breakpoints, right-click on the automation lane, and select Delete or Reset Automation
  5. Click the Automation button again to hide the Automation lane

Automation Recording

With a MIDI controller, you can record automation instead of manually adding breakpoints to the envelope.

  1. Using the MIDI Mapping feature, assign a knob or fader to the parameter you want to automate
  2. Toggle the Automation lane by pressing A on your keyboard or by clicking the Automation button located above your track headers, then click on the Arm Automation Recording button beside it
