Our goal is to make BandLab a safe, creative, and welcoming place for everyone to make music and connect. Our Community Guidelines are policies that outline what is and isn't allowed across the platform, including in public and private posts, comments, chats, and profiles.
If your content goes against any of these policies, we may remove it and issue a policy strike to your account.
Not every content restriction counts as a strike! For example, we may limit who can see content featuring mature themes or regulated goods to help keep BandLab age-appropriate for younger creators. You’ll receive a notification, but no strike will be added to your account.
How to Check Your Account Status
You can easily use the Account Status dashboard as the one place to keep track of policy notifications regarding your account. Now, when a policy notification requires your attention, you will receive a single alert. This alert will remain active in your Notifications tray until you review it within your Account Status dashboard, where you can view:
- What happened: The content actioned.
- Which rule applies: The Community Guideline triggered.
- How it affects you: Any restrictions on your account.
- What you can do: Your next steps, including options to submit an appeal when eligible.
Navigating to the Account Status dashboard
To get to the Account Status dashboard, simply tap on the alert on your Notification tray, or you can:
- Click on your profile picture and select Settings
- Scroll down to the bottom and select Account Status

How Policy Strikes Work
Strikes help you keep track of violations on your account. Repeated violations can lead to further restrictions, but the consequences depend on the policy involved and the severity of the violation.
Serious violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination, even without prior warnings. Some decisions may not be eligible for appeal.
The examples below illustrate how strikes typically escalate for less severe violations:
First Strike
A first strike is generally a warning to help you understand our Community Guidelines. It typically won’t affect your access to features and will automatically expire after 90 days.
Second Strike
If you break the same policy or a different policy within 90 days of your first strike, you may receive a second strike.
A second strike usually involves a temporary suspension of access to certain features for a short period, such as:
- Uploading new tracks, posts, or other media
- Interacting with other users (commenting, messaging, etc.)
Your access to these features will be restored automatically when the suspension ends. However, the second strike will remain on your account for 90 days from the date it was issued.
Repeated Strikes
Further strikes within a rolling 90-day period can lead to permanent suspension or account termination. When these happen:
- You may lose access to paid services, features, or fees already paid. Any refunds will be subject to our Refund Policy.
- You may be prohibited from creating another BandLab account.
Think we made a mistake? You can submit an appeal directly through the notification in your Account Status dashboard, where eligible.
What to do if you Receive a Strike
If you receive a policy notification, here’s what you can do:
- Check your dashboard. Visit Account Status to review the content and policy involved, as well as any restrictions on your account.
- Review our guidelines. Read our Community Guidelines to understand the policies and help avoid future violations.
- Appeal if needed. If you believe we made a mistake, use the appeal option in the relevant policy notification, where available. If there’s no appeal option, the decision may not be eligible for appeal.
