I can't hear any audio output
Basic checks
- Open your System settings on your Desktop and verify that the Main volume is not muted
- Ensure that the Main volume is loud enough
- Ensure that your Playback device (headset or speakers) is switched on
- Turn up the volume on your Playback device
System Settings and Playback Device
Ensure your operating system is sending audio to the correct output before opening the browser.
- For PC: Right-click the Speaker Icon in the taskbar > Sound settings. Under Output, select your speakers or interface
- For Mac: Navigate to System Settings > Sound > Output and select your output device
Browser Audio Permissions (Google Chrome)
BandLab works best on Google Chrome. Ensure the site is allowed to play sound:
- Click the Lock or Slider Icon next to the URL in the address bar
- Ensure Sound is set to Allow (or "Automatic")
- Access via: Settings > Site settings > Additional permissions > Sound
Output issues with USB devices
If you're using an Audio interface or USB Headphones:
- Check whether your device appears in your system's Sound Output Settings
- Check hardware output level knobs and Master Volume in system settings
- Check the USB cable; a faulty cable may fail to transmit audio data
- Update device firmware
- Try increasing Buffer Size and set Sample rate to 44.1 kHz

Selecting your Output
- Open Control Center (swipe down top-right)
- Select current Media playing
- Tap the Audio output icon
- Select Playback device
Connection issues with USB devices
If using an Audio interface or USB Microphones:
- Switch your OTG adapter with an External Powered USB hub
- Test with a standard app like Spotify to check
- Verify that your USB interface is Class Compliant and Compatible
- Ensure you are using the correct data cable
- Update firmware
- Check that AirPlay/Screen Mirroring isn't using output

Hardware Playback Troubleshooting
- Ensure Output routing is correct in device software
- Adjust Monitor Mix toward "Playback" or "USB"
- Verify A/B speaker selection switches
- Ensure that the Power is switched on for Active speakers
- Ensure the power amplifiers are switched on for Passive speakers
- Ensure Main faders are up on consoles
Standard Headsets & Speakers
- Verify devices are switched on
- Wiggle Test: Ensure the 3.5mm plug is fully inserted
- Check the Mute buttons or volume sliders
- Clean the Port: Remove lint/dust from the jack
Bluetooth Output Limitations
- Re-pair: Forget and reconnect the device
- Disable Voice Assistant: Turn off "Hey Google" or "Siri"
- Ensure the Playback device is charged and within proximity of your main device
- Turn off Power Saver mode
No sound despite correct device connection
In-Studio Checks
- Check the Master Fader
- Ensure no tracks are on Solo (S)
- Ensure that the Faders of your main tracks are all up
- Ensure the Audio/MIDI region isn't corrupted or empty
- Check your Volume Automations
- Ensure that the Input level on the Mastering feature is turned up
