FAQs about migrating to BandLab from Chew.TV

Hey! BandLab is launching an integrated livestreaming service across our platform in September. As such, we will no longer be running Chew as a separate platform and instead your livestreaming service can be found within the BandLab platform as “BandLab Live”.

As we begin this transition, we just wanted you to know that many of the features that you love and know on Chew.TV will be considered in the Product Pipeline for BandLab Live as it continues to develop and grow.

What is BandLab?

BandLab is where musicians and music fans from all over the world come together to make, collaborate and share music. You can find out more about BandLab here, or find out about our updates on our blog.

Why stream on BandLab?
With a global community of creators and fans, BandLab combines music-making and collaboration tools like the world’s first cross-platform DAW, with social features like video sharing, messaging and discovery. Besides Live Streaming, you're able to record and mix your music, collaborate and keep in touch with your fans, fellow musicians and DJs - it's a full package!

What is BandLab Live?
BandLab Live offers streaming and live chat so you can share your performance with the world. And you can stream continuously for up to four hours. Free. Your audience can watch your performance from the web platform OR on their phone via the BandLab app.
I used to have the Chew subscription. Now I want to move to BandLab, do I need to pay anything there?
No payment needed. BandLab is a free-to-use music creation and production platform. We have a community of over 8 million users there, and you’re welcome to share your live broadcasts there. Check it out at bandlab.com.
Free? What’s the catch?
None. BandLab Live is the streaming service of BandLab. BandLab is part of the larger BandLab Technologies group and we want to encourage everyone to create, so we’re committed to keeping BandLab and its features like BandLab Live free-to-use.
What will happen to my old streams?
All archives and completed user streams will be deleted by 16 September. After this date, the servers will be cleared, and you will no longer be able to access your archives or completed streams.
I'm a paying user. What do I need to do?
We suggest you download completed shows as that is the only way to keep/archive your content. All Chew.TV content will be deleted from our servers by 16 September.
What is happening with paying subscriptions?
All Chew.TV subscriptions will be cancelled by 17 August. So you won’t have to pay any further subscription charges.
What’s the time limit/length I can stream on BandLab?
4 hours. Check out the Streaming Guide for more information.
I really liked the gift option on Chew. Does BandLab offer this?
Yes, we have the Tipjar option (payment via global payments provider Stripe) where you can receive gifts and tips too.
But I love Chew and I don’t want to join BandLab! Can’t we just keep it open?
BandLab offers you an even bigger community and a wider pool of users – join us there!
Is there an ‘Archive’ option where we can still watch old streams? Or is this a complete deletion?
No archive. Complete deletion.
