What is forking?

Forking a song in BandLab is picking up where the original artist left off or starting from where they stopped. Essentially, you are taking another user’s track and adding it to your Mix Editor. This allows you to build on the work, add to it, change it and ultimately, if you like, republish your version of the track.

Songs you can ‘Fork’ on BandLab are identifiable by the green button and Fork symbol Ψ to fork a song on any platform click this button.

Here are the steps to make your songs Forkable:

 

Desktop Web:

  1. On your homepage, click on Library
  2. Click on My Projects
  3. On the project you wish to make Forkable, click on the Triple Dot Icon beside it
  4. Choose Project Settings
  5. Toggle to Allow Forks

 

iOS: 

  1. Tap on Library located at the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap on My Projects
  3. On the project you wish to make Forkable, tap on the Triple Dot Icon beside it
  4. Choose Update Project
  5. Toggle to Allow Forks
  6. Tap Save

 

Android:

  1. Tap on the Triple Line Icon on the top left of the screen to access the Menu
  2. Choose Library
  3. Tap on My Projects
  4. On the project you wish to make Forkable, tap the Triple Dot Icon beside it
  5. Choose Update Project
  6. Toggle to Allow Forks
  7. Tap Save
